The charity relies heavily on donations, contributions and grants in order to maintain its ongoing work, to support families affected by an epilepsy related death, to raise awareness through education, lobbying and influencing, and to promote research into SUDEP and epilepsy related deaths.
Epilepsy Bereaved’s ongoing fundraising activities include grant applications and identifying corporate sponsors, and we have a full programme of Foundations and Trusts to whom we make bids to each year.
However, most of our funds are raised by members holding individual commemorative events in memory of a loved one. These events, many of them small and local to the member’s community, are absolutely vital to the ongoing survival of the charity.
We can help you to help us
If you are considering organising a local fundraising event we can offer help and resources.
It is also important to make us aware of a planned forthcoming event so that we can use the stories to illustrate how committed our members are. We also include references to events and the funds they raise, in our twice yearly magazine, Epitome. In the magazine we would also include the name of the deceased person in whose memory the event was held.
There are many ways you can help us to raise awareness in your community and to raise funds. To find out about these opportunities and to see how the money you raise will be used, look at our In commemoration booklet which is packed full of useful ideas and our Sponsorship form to help you raise money in your community.
