SUDEP - Information for Professionals

Information

Epilepsy Bereaved can provide information for people with epilepsy and their
carers (CLICK HERE for our publications page). Our risks leaflet is particularly
helpful for informing people if they are making important decisions about
their treatment and life-style. We also have an educational resource pack
'SUDEP Aware in Primary Care' (see below).

Education and Training

The Big Lottery is funding our education and awareness project. We are able
to offer talks on SUDEP for medical audiences, Primary Care Trusts or NHS
Trusts. Please CLICK HERE to contact Sally Gomersall if you are interested
in discussing this.

Understanding NICE guidance

There are two quick reference guides for health care professionals:

The diagnosis and management of the epilepsies in children

The diagnosis and management of the epilepsies in adults

Primary Care guidelines for the management of females with epilepsy

These guidelines, based on a round table discussion held in London in December 2003 and sponsored by Sanofi-Synthelabo, have been written to help the non-specialist address the specific needs of women with epilepsy presenting in the course of their normal work, and are intended to help in determining those who need referral to an appropriate specialist – they are not meant as a definitive guide for the treatment of women with epilepsy.
