Raising Awareness of SUDEP and other epilepsy related deaths

The Big Lottery is funding the Education & Awareness project to support families with experience of SUDEP and other epilepsy related deaths to raise awareness. You can help us to raise awareness in many different ways including:
Managing an information stand at a conference;
Speaking of your experiences at a conference or support group;
Sharing your experiences with the press;
Asking questions at an event or conference;
Representing the charity in projects to improve services for people with epilepsy and families bereaved through epilepsy;
Campaigning for improved epilepsy services;
Holding an event in commemoration of the person who died.

Raising Awareness amongst Coroners & Pathologists

Ongoing education regarding the needs of bereaved families, the work of Epilepsy Bereaved and the importance of accurate investigations and recording of epilepsy deaths.

Raising Awareness amongst GPs and Health Care Professionals

Ongoing education of the risks of SUDEP and other epilepsy related deaths is needed. We can provide you with a pack to help you contact your GP and with a pack specially for your GP which encourages them to take up new national incentives to improve epilepsy services within their practice.

All Party Parliamentary Group on Epilepsy (APPGE)

We continue to support and promote this group. Activists from Wales and Scotland are active within the National Assembly for Wales and the Scottish Parliament, raising awareness of epilepsy related deaths on our behalf.

Lobbying politicians to improve epilepsy services

Please contact Sally (sally.gomersall@ntlworld.com) if you would like to “Get Active” in any of the above activities.
