Epilepsy Bereaved has set up a telephone counselling pilot project to provide timely access to a confidential service.
We are aware that access to local counselling services can be patchy and often the waiting lists are long. After the traumatic experience of a sudden death people often look to counselling for a time to explore their feelings and discuss strategies to help them cope in their day to day lives.
Telephone counselling is just like a face-to-face counselling session, except you would be talking to a qualified counsellor over the phone. You can arrange counselling sessions for a time that is most convenient for you.
The project will provide telephone counselling where appropriate, to people who have been affected by an epilepsy related death and who are unable to access a local service. The project is for time limited counselling; offering a maximum of eight sessions per person. Places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come first served basis’.
The service, which will be provided over six months will allow us to gauge the need for future services and is open to individuals aged 16 and above.
