Simon died on the 11 April 2007 aged 33.
Simon had a degree in Mathematical Business Studies and worked in the aerospace industry as a supply chain analyst. His first seizure occurred during the night when he was in his mid twenties. By this time he had left home and was living independently.
Although Simon saw a neurologist his seizures were never controlled.
Simon’s passion was snooker and in 2001 he became West Midlands snooker champion.
Simon’s long term relationship had broken down and he was living temporarily with his friend. His friend went to check on him to see why he’d not got up for work as usual and found Simon dead in his room.
His Mum, Ann said “I think he could have had better care elsewhere though his neurologist says everything was done. I am not sure. He never was referred to a specialist epilepsy centre as per the national epilepsy guidelines”.
